Udderbelly Festival and London Wonderground are delighted to serve the second course of their mouth-watering 2016 season.
Master satirist Andy Zaltzman, the cerebral yet hilariously waspish Hal Cruttenden and the just plain psychedelically weird Tony Law are among the comedy heavyweights on their way to the Purple Cow this summer.
These comedy superstars are joined in the cow’s belly for the first time by uproarious new interactive comedy game show from gaming expert and comedian Steve McNeil, Wi-Fi Wars, which lets the whole audience play along on their phones in a series of challenges absorbing enough for even the smartphone generation to sit up and take notice (…of their smartphones).
Other top comedians landing on the South Bank include magical comedy superstar Pete Firman, the “mindbending” (Guardian) James Acaster, the unflinchingly honest Felicity Ward and wizard of one-liners Milton Jones, as well as zeitgeist-y jokesters Ed Gamble, John Robins and Joel Dommett.
Other comedy institutions in town this spring include the always funny and fascinating blend of science and comedy Festival Of Spoken Nerd, the legendary mixed-bill dance party Spank and Best of the Comedy Store from the eponymous and world famous club.
If all that isn’t enough London Wonderground has also added some more sparkly garments to its technicolour wardrobe in the form of Miss Polly Rae’s anarchic cabaret-burlesque romp dealing with all-things bedroom, Between The Sheets, Rotherham’s least-celebrated daughter Myra Dubois (fresh from The John Bishop Show), the magnificently talented Cabaret Whore and Dr Sketchy’s Anti Art School which gives you the chance to draw London’s best avant-garde cabaret performers, as they perform, while drinking.
All of this amazing entertainment comes in conjunction with London’s most buzzing outdoor bars, an eclectic range of street food and more festivities to be announced.
